Now this was a hike

Lions Head is a mountain between Signal Hill and Table Mountain. If you climb to the top you are rewarded with uninterrupted vistas of Cape Town - 360 degrees of it. Making it to the top involves climbing some ladders and chains - not for the faint hearted. But wait, there's more ... If you climb to the top when the moon is full, you get to see the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean and the moon rise over the city of Cape Town. This has become a very popular adventure, particularly with the young people (for obvious reasons). Folks picnic and drink wine at the summit and then stumble down (often in flip flops) by the light of the moon. I'm amazed there are not more accidents as a result. Here are some shots as we climbed, admired and scurried down again in the moonlight.
