May this be a time to give thanks for all the wonderful things in life and put the less wonderful things behind us. My wish is that the world would experience the real meaning of Christmas.

Stono Sunset
This was the scene at low tide this evening as the sun was setting over the Stono River. Gotta love the lowcountry.

You should have been at Folly Beach tonight
The windy, rainy front had finally blown through and the sky was clearing as the sun set. Breathtakingly beautiful.

Here comes that Christmas Spirit
Last night I did a Christmas decoration shoot for a downtown hotel. Up until then I had not been feeling the Christmas spirit. I was still caught up in Thanksgiving and goodness me, Christmases sure do seem to come around fast the older I get. Anyway, the sparkling lights and gifts under the tree did a lot to move me further along. This was a fun gig.

Matt gets a new do
So today was a little slow, nothing that had to be done with any urgency and nowhere that we needed to be, so Leigh took the clippers to her brother's head, and this was the result. Entertaining and ultimately an improvement I think.

Happy Thanksgiving 2013
So much to be grateful for. Let me count my blessings - geez, I'm getting into Obama numbers here ...
Best of all though is family, and of course the kids always steal the show.

Charleston Jewels
One thing about living in Charleston is that there is never a lack of material to photograph. When feeling uninspired, the antidote is to wander through the city and take in the details. Like a treasure hunt, there is something special wherever you look. Here are just a few more Charleston cameos.

Just another Day at the Office
I wear multiple hats where I work, like many I'm sure, but the other day I got to climb the scaffolding to the steeple of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church on King Street where we have been involved in a restoration project. I was there for the purpose of documenting work that we are doing, but it was a lot of fun, and the views - ahh!

150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Wagner
I spent a great Saturday out at Boone Hall where a re-enactment of the Battle of Fort Wagner took place. It was to commemorate the 150th anniversary of this historic event, the Union attack on July 18, 1863, led by the 54th Massachusetts
Volunteer Infantry, one of the first major American military units made
up of black soldiers. Colonel Robert Gould Shaw led the 54th
Massachusetts on foot while they charged, and was killed in the assault. You can find many more images on my website here.

St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Renovation
I went downtown today with one of our environmental engineers to document some of the work we are doing at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. The building is currently being renovated inside and out to fix multiple problems, but it was a fascinating look at some of the inner parts of the building that one would not normally have the opportunity to access.

Downtown Charleston from the Air
We had been waiting for awhile for conditions to be right for an aerial waterfront property shoot, and Sunday was just perfect. A clear, clear day, sunny skies and a nice high tide. As soon as we are airborne I start shooting - at anything pretty much. Why not? It doesn't cost anything and you just never know when an image might come in handy. Here are some taken of downtown Charleston.
